Simply put, workplace conditions impact employee physical and mental health. Lots of research across many different types of organizations has demonstrated that when workplace conditions are healthy, employees and their families thrive, employee absenteeism and turnover declines, and organizations experience greater productivity, effectiveness and profits. When workplace conditions are unhealthy, employee health and mental health suffers, burnout levels increase, employee turnover increases, and organizational performance and profits take a hit. In other words, how we design our workplaces can make a significant difference on whether or not employees thrive and organizations succeed.
